Friday Photo: Direction
In the height of an autumn Oregon storm, I spent last weekend in the quaint coastal town of Rockaway Beach. I got up early on Saturday morning to take a walk, strolling down the small streets before most of the town was out of bed. I captured the still, morning moment in this weather vane, which stood still in the calm before the storm. The photo sort of fits with the name of this blog, je vais où?, a simplified way of asking “where am I going” in French. At a time of a lot of transition it was exactly what I needed to capture on film, forcing me to ask myself “what direction are you headed in?”…
Stormy Coastal Weekend
Spent a girls’ weekend out at Rockaway Beach, Oregon and we were lucky enough to be caught right in the middle of an epic Oregon autumn storm. The waves were enormous and fluffy mounds of sea foam covered the shore. Ocean spray rose high in the air above the crashing water, reminding us of just how powerful nature can be. Plus I got to borrow a Nikon D80 for the trip which always makes me happy.
Friday Photo: Spring on the Coast
There’s nothing like a Saturday at the coast to enjoy spring sunshine. Indian Beach happens to be one of my favorite spots that’s not too far of a drive from Portland. Hit up the farmers market on your way out of town to stock up on goat cheese and fresh bread, and an afternoon picnic overlooking the seastacks could be my favorite way to spend a weekend.
Classic road trips: The Oregon Coast
I finally managed to get my thoughts and photos together for a feature post over at Gadling on road-tripping the Oregon Coast; it’s not extensive, just a quick and dirty guide to good stuff to do and see. That gave me a good chance to go through pictures from the late summer coastal excursion, which was an excellent mood-booster for a gray fall day… not that I am complaining, but there is something to be said for reminiscing over summer adventures.

Friday Photo: Newport, OR
Last weekend I spent an excellent two days at the coast. It was a classic “coast road trip” weekend; stopping at various beaches, walking through coastal towns, and of course the necessary consumption of fish and chips. This photo comes from the Historic Bayfront in Newport; I wanted a photo that would capture the very maritime feel of this classic section of the town and the pulley with the Yaquina Bay Bridge in the background seemed just right.
